California School for the Deaf

Today was the last day of our program. We went to the California School for the Deaf in the morning, had the certificate ceremony at UCR from 12 to 12:30 and then went to Palm Springs and Cabazon.

Meeting Cal State Long Beach Students

After Little Tokyo on Saturday, we made a brief stop in Hollywood and on the way to Santa Monica we drove by Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hill. In Santa Monica I was able to meet with all my students who are at Cal State Long Beach now. It was great seeing them all!

Japanese American National Museum

We went to the Japanese American National Museum Saturday morning--first day of a long weekend here in the USA. Four docents gave our Josai/JIU students a tour of the museum and I sincerely hope our students learned a lot. We are very much grateful to them and on the personal level, I appreciated the opportunity to go over my memories of Hitoshi Sameshima-san. I miss him.

A special time with UCR students

It was so nice to have this special event with the UCR students who were at JIU for a month in July. Students from Josai and JIU who are here now all got together on Friday. We are grateful and hope that many students choose to study in Japan next year.

Mira Loma on Friday

We were at Mira Loma Middle School today and we met with students in 7th and 8th grades. Principal Huben received us with his very warm hospitality as always.
