Proud of our Chancellor

Our Chancellor received the Hungarian National Award for Services to Culture on Wednesday, May 18. A reception was held at the Hungarian Embassy in Tokyo and we were so proud and inspired by the recognition of her contributions not only to Hungary but also to the young Japanese generation. We were honored by the visit of the President of Hungary to the Kioicho campus last year, and we are now hosting the first group of Hungarian students who received the Mizuta Scholarship to study at Josai International University and Josai University for a year. I certainly hope that this is just the beginning of a long-term relationship between the countries and the various educational institutions.

The Ambassador of Hungary to Japan received an honorary doctorate from JIU yesterday, too. The initial plans were for him to be granted the degree during graduation ceremony in March, but as it was cancelled we didn't know when exactly that would happen. Having both events on the same day at the Embassy was wonderful and inspiring to all of us.

Maki gave a great speech in Hungarian and Hairi perfomed as students sang a Hungarian tune. After that she performed "Nadasoso."

Hairi's performance on Friday

I'm sorry I forgot to post this event last night. Hairi performed at the City Lights Café Friday evening. We enjoyed her beautiful voice and her sanshin performance.

Seminar Students Get Together

Some of my junior and senior seminar students go together at JIU this afternoon.
Six of them got fun prizes in the bingo game organized by Akimoto-kun.
Cheers!
