Summer School 2104

Photos of the last day of our Intensive Japanese Program for international students. They were here for one month. They were from Spelman College, Moorehouse College and Leeward Community College. I hope they all learned a lot of Japanese while here.

Bad food & good bowling

Some of us went bowling the other day in Kamatori. Unfortunately as good Brazilians, Eric and I decided to try the "Brazil Burger" that McDonalds is advertising now before bowling. Not bad but lots of cholesterol. I didn't bowl well at all and maybe that's because I ate too much?!?!? Bad excuse--I know, I know.

Kataoka-sensei visited us on June 3

It was really nice seeing Kataoka-sensei from Long Beach here at JIU this week. She takes such a great care of our students. Here's a photo of her with two of our students who did their teaching Japanese internship under her supervision on her campus. We hope more and more students will take advantage of this program and the opportunity to learn from her.

Late Birthday

We ate LOTS of cake the other night. It was a very late birthday celebration but it was a good one.

What a lovely guest!

Yutaka again?

On May 22, all my first and second-year advisees got together at Yutaka--yes, Taiwanese food twice that week. I didn't mind it at all though as I love their food.

Dinner with 3rd and 4th-year students on May 20

Thirty-eight of us had dinner at Yutaka on May 20. The senior students welcomed the juniors to our seminar. They will be working closely together and preparing for the JIU Festival.

Yuto and Masaki happened to visit me that day and they joined us.

Unfortunately a good-bye speech: he is returning to Sendai.

Enough?!?

USP na JIU

Professor Mori from the University of São Paulo visited us last Friday. This photo was taken with all the Brazilian students here at JIU.
